Saw the graffiti when the prefects were summoned very early this morning. Couldn't believe it at first, mostly because Iw as still half asleep.

Who did it? Was it an assignment? Or someone acting on their own?

It's going to be hell trying to concentrate today, and I've got a number of midterms this week.

Can I boycott this dance?

It's not that I don't like dances, really, I just don't expect to be asked—well, it's not important. Maybe I'll go and just enjoy the party food. I do love a good sparkling punch, or that extra spicy pumpkin juice they pull out around the holidays.

Being a prefect isn't all that glamorous. No one should be envying me. If you are, come with me on rounds next week. I'm sure you'll just love the experience.

So far I'm absolutely loving this term's classes. I was worried, being O.W.L.s year and all, but it looks like I'm going to be able to handle it just fine. On an even better note, there hasn't been a single squeak of drama since I arrived. I'm sure the fact that I've completely avoiding Blaise has helped, but still.

Rune and Transfiguration I think are going to prove my favorites. We finally get to translate something of value. As for Transfiguration, well, there's never a day i'm not looking forward to that class.

Where the bloody hell did my summer go?

I'd had grand plans, especially with my music, seeing as my practice is anything but ideal at Hogwarts. However, a 12-year-old sister makes those things quite difficult, especially when her only hobby is bothering you. I did at least master a relatively new piece by Jon Schmidt called Waterfall. It's a very therapeutic piece; I need to find a broom cupboard to transfigure/charm into a piano practice room. No one would notice, right?

Anyone want to meet up on the train? Padma? Mandy? Millicent? Anyone? I haven't talked to any of you all summer. I expect full updates on the ride.

Professor Dumbledore saw it fit to make me a Prefect. I'm not sure what I did to deserve that. Not sure I'm even suited for the job. Mother made me pin badge on my robes and wear it around the house for three days. Mothers should really come up with a better way to share their pride.

Saw Blaise briefly in Diagon Alley at F&B. It was—awkward. I mean, I tried to make it less awkward, but he seemed to want to keep it at an awkward distance. Can't blame him, I suppose. I did try to kiss him...

I have a huge elephant I can't get out of the room. And its name is Blaise Zabini. And I desperately—desperately—wish I could make it go away.
